Padcaster / Lenscaster lets you mount SLR lenses on iPad, we go hands-on at NAB (video) — Engadget. If you’ve heard of the En Cinema mount for iPhone ( a device that lets you mount a DSLR lens on an iPhone) then the Padcaster /Lenscaster combo won’t be too much of a surprise. Its a tripod mount for the New iPad and an SLR lens mount (if you have the lens adapter) . On 12th March – Michael Rosenblum wrote an article for his blog on the Guardian.co.uk website asking “iPad3 – is it the definitive multimedia journalism tool?” click link to read that article. The iPhone4 / 4s and the new iPad have a number of shortcomings that in its pure form are real challenges – no Zoom and limited audio capability with the stock microphone being key ones. Well the Padcaster may address the lens issue and my recent post about mating a Fostex Ar4i to an iPhone 4s using an Apple dock connector extension cable might allow you to introduce the 2 channel audio recording ability of the Ar4i. What the beast will look like though….lets just say the Frankenstein scene from Weird Science with the Bras on head comes to mind. The word Im searching for is …HILARIOUS!
The Padcaster website is here: Padcaster
