Olympus – LS-100. BHPhoto have just posted a video review of the Olympus LS-100 portable audio recorder. It looks robust enough from the pictures. It will be interesting to see if it makes a dent in the Zoom H4n market – particularly in relation to DSLR video production. Heres the linkto the video review. (via Cheesycam)

Vodafone bringing LTE speeds to Germany, with the HTC Velocity – Engadget. If you’ve been subjected to my rant about mobile being the future of newsgathering then you will have heard me talk about how LTE will change the mobile landscape completely. LTE or 4G to some by comparison to todays 3G speeds is basically hyper speed data throughput. Vodafone already have a number of LTE networks in Europe – Germany being one of the most recent. When will our fair Isle see LTE – 18months+ depending on when the government start the auction process. Checkout the article from Engadet about the new HTC LTE handset on offer in Germany.

The Daily turns 1 with 100k subscribers, but may be years away from profit | Poynter.. When the daily was announced, not long after Richard Bransons foray into eMags with PROJECT I really believed a new (interactive) publishing platform and genre was born. Im amazed at how low the subscrition rate it, that said with the likes of Flipboard and Zyte etc giving you personalised daily digests maybe subscription was a bad idea – maybe advetising revenue should have been the key cashcow?

Fred Wood, a fellow trainer, shot this quickly with an iPhone 4 as a sequence specifically for editing. Took about 20 mins to assemble on Avid Studio.

UPDATE **** I spent 5 hours playing with Avid Studio on an iPad2 last night. I edited 2 sequences and exported both as 720pHD files no problem. The interface is mostly intuitive but the real PLUS is the frame accurate editing -this is a head and shoulders above iMovie. That said iMovie allows you to record a VO direct to your edit – AVID? No sign whatseover of how to incorporate VO. I tried several attempts to get an audio clip into the library but the only options I can find are A. Send to iTunes and sync (Pointless for field editing) or B Ironically export the edit to the Camera Roll and import into iMovie to VO there!!!! Ill bang up one of the edits on Vimeo later and see what you think.

Truth of the matter is that if you have Avid Studio AND iMovie on your iPad2 you have a Very functional field editing platform for iPhone video.

via Cine Bundle – iSupport. Now this IS interesting. Its called the iSupport CineBundle. Its a modular system for iPhone and as you can see from the photo it can be pimped up galore! Look forward to trying this little baby out – DSLR Rig meets iPhone!
