The iPad may not be the great saviour of newspapers | Dan Sabbagh | Media | The Guardian. As an early adopter of the iPad I have to admit I thought (and still think to a slightly lesser extent) that the iPad would do to the Newspaper/Magazine/Book (PRINT) industry what the iPod did to the music industry.

I agree though that there are an infinitesimal amount of distractions (my personal vice is Angry Birds) but apps like Zinio and hopefully CEROS will definately encourage me to buy subs to magazines I currently get the print version of….National Geographic, Rolling Stone, T3, are all available via Zinio – if you are in the right territory – which Ireland is not apparently (for Nat. Geo. anyway) I know there is the “tactile/disposable” arguement about newspaper but hey – Im willing to subscribe – save a few trees – and hoepfully encourage the newspapers to follow the guardians lead and redirect the focus from print into more multi-media articles.

God forbid print journalists might even adopt Video Journalism and produce tv-style reports for viewing on the web / ipad ….
