ABC News gets into video books with new app – Lost Remote

ABC News gets into video books with new app – Lost Remote. So here is the reason Im blogging about eBook / ePublishing platforms. ABC it would appear is one of the first Broadcasters to cash in on the multi-media content they own to produce an eBook complete with Video. Im pretty sure though that BBCs top Gear produced an eMag using well over a year ago?

Anyway, why am I interested? Ive long held the view that the iPad has yet to realise its potential as a training/education device. It is in all honesty a truly convergent device, video, text, photos, audio, tactile interactivity, portable etc.

Im interested in publishing a VJ Magazine with tutorials, videos, diagrams interviews etc. Why a Mag instead of a website? – well thats a bit misleading, Im not suggesting producing a mag without a website. I think a permanent web presence is essential however I would see the website a a blog / comment site rather than a reproduction of the magazine content.

What I am doing is a feasibility study on a production model to produce a FREE (Advertising funded) Quarterly magazine about global video journalism. Tutorials, Technology, Gear, Stories etc etc – there is HUGE potential and the reason I like the eMag model is that it can be distributed using a viral social media campaign – not by advertising in the traditional sense. Plans are at an early stage but Ill keep you posted. G
