AR-4i | Audio Interface for iPhone 4 | Fostex

AR-4i | Audio Interface for iPhone 4 | Fostex. OK, ok its as ugly as hell and looks about as ergonomically friendly as a mechano mock-up BUT, the features are smart and FOSTEX have a good reputation so Im gonna get one of these and try it out. Thoughts?

UPDATE*****I take it back – actually I just got one of these and I have to admit I couldnt have been more wrong. Its solid, robust, and it REALLY improves audio acquisition in the iPhone4. Ive tried it with the included mini-mics, the Sennheiser MKE400 and a Sony UWP RAdio receiver and each and all worked excellently. This my friends is a REAL MOJO solution. Review posted later.

Heres the BLURB from the site:

The iPhone 4 is fabulous and takes great HD quality video. However if there’s one area that lets it down, it’s the sound. The small internal microphone only records in mono with no control and as for the quality…. Well let’s just say it not exactly high-fidelity. Enter the new Fostex AR-4i. Offering excellent quality stereo audio recording, (via Dock connector and in-built AD/DA converter), with LED input level metering, gain control and headphone monitoring, the AR-4i has been designed to  dramatically increase the quality of the sound of the videos you take with your iPhone 4.

Perfect for TV & Radio reporting, live video streaming to the web, video blogs / YouTube uploads plus ideal for family and domestic use.
