BBC Ariel – (Citizen) Local reporters line up to tell their 2012 story – I thought this was a great idea ’till I read the punchline!

Ariel – Local reporters line up to tell their 2012 story. BBC has launched a Citizen Reporter training programme which will involve 18 members of the public with a passion for news in their locality being trained and actively involved in learning reporting and storytelling techniques from some of the BBCs top experts and trainers. Kinda surprised that the “pay-off” is only a PITCH to BBC London editors to see if they will develop the stories for broadcast. Kind of ..heres a lolly pop, you can lick it and taste it but then we’ll take it back and decide if we want to eat it for you (or not).

Would be nice if they adopted MoJo training – showed them how to report, interview, shoot, edit and post the package online using an iPhone so they might become active community reporters for BBC local – but hey I can keep wishing!!!!
