StoriesFrom.us | New Media. Better World. A Tiziano Project initiative in association with the Knight Foundation

StoriesFrom | New Media. Better World.. Stories From.us is a website which has been funded as part of the Knight Foundation new media programme. It has been developed by The Tiziano Project which aims to bring the skills required for digital storytelling to communities and people who have otherwise been neglected by mainstream media.

The interface has several different view options, I particularly like the map  with its hotspots, but you can view stories by region also.

The training workshops are all rooted in small accessible digital cameras and audio recorders – a citizen version of video journalism if you will. The site is well worth a visit , the stories are very well produced. It will be interesting to see how this project develops. You can follow the Tiziano Project on twitter

I really enjoyed this post. Citizen Journalism is an incredibly important tool for under reported stories, journalism, and societies in general. I intern for EPIC, a non-profit dedicated to on-the-ground youth development in Iraq. We’re currently working on a photovoice project with Iraqi youth, letting them share their unheard perspective on the changes they see in their country.
